Previous page 1892: Albert H. Weinbrenner, at the age of 27, opens a cobblery in Milwaukee with partner, Joseph Peffer serving “Jobbing” trades. 1900: Albert H. Weinbrenner Co. is formed. 1916: First catalog printed. Company has more leather cutting machines than any other in U.S. 1917: “Job-fitted” concept introduced. Weinbrenner is a major contributor of boots to U.S. Army in WWI. 1938: Company takes first steps into safety footwear production. 1942: Company celebrates 50 years in business. Converts to all-military footwear for duration of WWII, producing combat and dress styles. Military footwear also becomes popular with civilians. 1943: Company workers organize under International Boot & Shoe Workers Union. Management and workers continue outstanding relationship through today. 1964: The Official Boy Scout Boot: The Hike n’ Camp is introduced with wedge sole and moccasin-style stitching. [I] IMPACT: Footwear retains a .500 inch (1/2 inch) for men’s and .468 inch (15/32 inch) for women’s or greater clearance after a nominal impact of 75 foot-pounds (101.7J), i.e., a 50 pound weight dropped, reaching 117.9 ± 2.4 inches per second velocity at impact. [C] COMPRESSION: Footwear retains a .500 inch (1/2 inch) for men’s and .468 inch (15/32 inch) for women’s or greater clearance after a compression force of 2500 lbs. (11,121 N). [EH] ELECTRIC HAZARD [ASTM F2413-18 OR ASTM F2892] Constructed or manufactured with electric shock-resisting soles and heels capable of withstanding an application of 18,000 volts (root mean square (RMS) value) at 60 Hz for 1 minute, with no current flow or current leakage in excess of 1.0 milliamperes under dry conditions. OIL-RESISTING OUTSOLE The outsole is designed to withstand or reduce damage due to oil. SLIP-RESISTING [ASTM F3445] Footwear is tested for ASTM F3445 industry criteria for slip-resisting footwear.
